System definition
More Than an ESD Flooring Material
A floor material alone does not define the performance of an installed ESD flooring system. Depending on the Product, project specification, Application environment and site conditions, the project may require coordination between flooring material, conductive adhesive, grounding components, seam treatment, subfloor conditions, installation control, testing and verification, and maintenance planning.
Material-Only Evaluation
Reviewing only the flooring sheet or tile may overlook installation, grounding, site condition, seam treatment and verification requirements that affect the completed project.
Complete System Evaluation
The flooring Product, compatible accessories, grounding design, site preparation, installation controls and verification plan should be reviewed together. The final configuration must be defined for the specific Product and project rather than applied universally.
Coordinated architecture
ESD Flooring System Architecture
Each stage informs the next. The required values, materials and acceptance criteria must be defined according to the Product, project specification and applicable Standard.
-
Stage 01
Application & Performance Requirements
Define the Application environment, required electrical performance, traffic, durability, hygiene, chemical and documentation requirements.
-
Stage 02
Homogeneous ESD Vinyl Flooring
Select ESD Vinyl Tile or ESD Vinyl Sheet according to the project requirements.
-
Stage 03
Conductive Installation Layer
Use the appropriate Conductive Adhesive and prepared subfloor according to the Product and installation requirements.
-
Stage 04
Grounding Coordination
Use Copper Foil Grounding Strip and connect the installed flooring system to the approved grounding network according to the project design.
-
Stage 05
Seam Treatment
Use Welding Rod and heat-welded seams where required by the Product and project environment.
-
Stage 06
Testing & Verification
Review the installed flooring system using the agreed test methods, Standards and project acceptance requirements.
Flooring formats
Choose the Appropriate ESD Vinyl Flooring Format
Tile and Sheet are homogeneous PVC flooring formats. Selection should follow the project requirements rather than a universal preference for one format.
Installation system
Coordinated Installation Components
Component selection must be coordinated with the flooring Product, prepared substrate, grounding design, seam requirements and project conditions.
Engineering inputs
Information Required for System Selection
These are evaluation inputs, not universal requirements. Their relevance depends on the inquiry, Product, Application and project stage.
Application Environment
Industry, facility type, process environment and static-control requirements.
Electrical Performance
Required resistance class, test method, body-voltage or static-generation requirement when specified.
Flooring Format
Tile or Sheet according to layout, installation, seam and project requirements.
Subfloor Condition
Flatness, dryness, strength, cleanliness and compatibility with the selected installation system.
Traffic & Durability
Foot traffic, equipment movement, load and expected service conditions.
Hygiene & Chemical Conditions
Cleaning, contamination control, seam sealing and chemical exposure where applicable.
Installation Requirements
Adhesive, grounding, heat welding, site conditions and installation schedule.
Documentation & Verification
Technical Datasheets, Test Reports, Standards, acceptance testing and project documentation.
Installation coordination
From Subfloor Preparation to Installed System
This conceptual process does not replace Product instructions, approved project details or site-specific installation planning.
-
01
Site and Subfloor Review
Review environmental and substrate conditions before installation.
-
02
Subfloor Preparation
Prepare a flat, dry, clean and structurally suitable substrate according to Product and project requirements.
-
03
Grounding Layout
Coordinate Copper Foil Grounding Strip and approved grounding points according to the project design.
-
04
Conductive Adhesive Application
Apply the selected Conductive Adhesive according to its Product instructions and site conditions.
-
05
Flooring Installation
Install the selected homogeneous ESD Vinyl Tile or Sheet according to the approved layout.
-
06
Seam Treatment
Heat-weld compatible seams using the appropriate Welding Rod when required.
-
07
Initial Cleaning & Protection
Protect the installed flooring according to the Product and project requirements.
-
08
Testing & Handover
Perform the agreed testing, document the result and complete project handover requirements.
Installed-system review
Verify the Installed Flooring System
Verification should evaluate the installed flooring system rather than only the uninstalled flooring material. Test methods, values and acceptance requirements must follow the approved Product data, project specification and applicable Standard.
- Resistance to Ground
- Point-to-Point Resistance
- Static Charge Generation
- Body Voltage Generation
- Grounding continuity
- Visual installation review
- Project-specific acceptance requirements
